Ivory Coast BSC — Port Abidjan

Ivory Coast, officially known as Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, determined in 2005 that all shipments sent to all of its ports (Abidjan, Baobab Marine Terminal, Sasandra, San Pedro, or any other) must have the BSC loading document.

BSC (Bordereau de Suivi de Cargaison) is a waiver certificate required by many African countries. It is also known as CTN (Cargo Tracking Note).

The shipper or the freight forwarder is responsible for acquiring the BSC waiver certificate from the authorized representative.

WHICH DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

Important Documents for Ivory Coast BSC

There are 8 documents that you need to submit to obtain the certificate. All the documents must be valid, and we can help with any doubt you may have.

Bill of Lading — a Draft copy can be used to generate the draft BSC. Original copy has to be provided with the date of issue before the validation.

Commercial Invoice

Freight Invoice: It is necessary if the freight cost isn’t on the commercial invoice.

Export Customs Declaration — Details have to match with all documents if it is not cross-trade.

Packing List — Reference of the doc, the date, the number of containers, the container numbers, and the container type have to be mentioned.

Certificate of Origin

Local Certificate of Insurance (Local certificat d’assurance) — The importer must get it from Ivory Coast, regardless of the shipment type.

FDI document (Fiche de déclaration à l’importation) — The importer will get it from Ivory Coast regardless of shipment type.

WHEN DO I NEED TO OBTAIN THE BSC CERTIFICATE?

According to Ivory Coast Customs Border regulations, the BSC certificate must be validated at least 5 days before the cargo arrives at the port. You should also know that it takes an average of 2 days to get it validated since you apply (being all the documents correct) although we try our best to make it in one day.

Knowing this, you should prepare your documents and contact us as soon as you can.

If your shipment arrives without a valid BSC, you will get charged twice the certificate plus the regulation fine determined by the Ivory Coast National Port Officials. This also means delays in your shipment, as well as warehouse costs until you can clear your cargo.

We are here to help you with the process. Give us a call or send an email and we will solve all your inquiries in no time.
